A Word About Junk Mail

How do I reduce the amount of junk e-mail I receive?

At times, a few of our customers have been hit hard by Spam. A lot of them do not know how use the Junk Mail filter in Outlook to properly manage the filter and manually cut down on the amount of Spam they receive.

  1. Click on “Tools” at the top of the Outlook client, and then choose “Options.”

  2. Choose “Junk E-mail,” which is found in the “E-mail” section of the “Preferences” tab.

  3. In the “Options” tab you can set the filtering level for the client.

    • No Protection – Filter is off.
    • Low – This setting is for people that do not experience a lot of Spam and only want to filter obvious Junk Mail.
    • High – This setting is for people who experience large amounts of Spam. Be warned that “good” mail can potentially get caught by this filter and you should check every once in a while to make sure it isn’t.
    • Safe Lists Only – Clients will only receive e-mail from a Safe Sender’s List. All other e-mail will be filtered and treated as Junk Mail.
